Dental Exams
It is important to attend regular dental exams in order to maintain a healthy smile and prevent major dental issues from taking shape. The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist every six months. Dr. Fredal and his team will warmly welcome you and walk you through a simple exam using modern technology such as an iTero scanner.

  • Comprehensive review of your oral health
  • Examination of the teeth, gums, and bite
  • Consultation with Dr. Thomas Fredal
  • Digital x-rays (if required)
  • Oral cancer screening

During your regular visits, our team will address any concerns or questions you may have. We do everything we can to keep your smile healthy!

Periodontal Care
The foundation of oral health is found in your gums. Dr. Fredal and his hygienist encourage all to attend regular hygiene appointments. During these appointments, we check your gum health and identify any early signs of Periodontal (gum) disease. Through early diagnosis, it is possible to prevent the spread of the disease, which could lead to bleeding gums, sensitivity when you eat, tooth loss, or even heart disease.

To keep your gums clean and healthy, your dental hygienist performs a professional cleaning. This removes any adverse plaque that may have been missed during your daily brushing and flossing routine. If you are suffering from gum disease then we may use scaling and root planing to remove severe plaque build-up.

At the end of your hygiene visit, we provide some feedback about your brushing routine and may include some kindly pointers.

Fillings
Many people in the U.S. experience the negative effects of a broken, cracked, or worn down tooth. When this happens, tooth-colored fillings are an affordable and efficient solution. At Legacy Dental Professionals, we no longer use amalgam material to restore a tooth but rather use a composite, natural-colored filling. This material is discreet, strong, and bonds nicely to your tooth.

A filling is placed by first cleaning the affected tooth and numbing the surrounding area. Next, Dr. Fredal uses the composite material to fill the hole or gap in the tooth. This is hardened to protect the inside of your tooth. Once complete, your tooth is restored to its natural function and look.

Great group of people here. I've been going to Fredal DDS for years and they've always taken good care of me. They are very professional and fun to be around.

Crowns & Bridges
Through trauma or severe decay, part of your tooth could deteriorate or be knocked out. If this is the case, then a dental crown may be the ideal solution. Dental crowns are synthetic caps made of durable porcelain. These caps are designed and created to replace the missing part of your tooth.

The procedure to place a crown is simple. Dr. Fredal takes a digital impression of the tooth and sends it to a specialist lab. At the lab, your custom crown is made and then sent to Dr. Fredal, who comfortable fits it over your natural tooth.

Crowns are used during or after other procedures such as bridges, implants, and root canals. When used with a dental bridge, crowns are placed either side of a missing tooth so the artificial tooth can be held in place. The two crowns act as anchors to stop the new tooth from moving.

Root Canals
There are a number of dental problems that result in the nerve on inside of your tooth becoming infected. A similar issue may be caused by severe trauma to your tooth or mouth. When this happens, Dr. Fredal may recommend a root canal. This may seem daunting, but thanks to modern technology, this procedure no longer needs to be uncomfortable or painful.

In fact, the treatment is very straightforward for our skilled Shelby Township dentist. To begin, Dr. Fredal cleans the area, removes the diseased tissue, and disinfects the tooth. The inner part of the tooth is cleaned and filled with a special material designed to protect the tooth. If necessary, a dental crown may be placed over the tooth to reinforce it.

Children’s Dentistry
We are pleased to welcome children of all ages to Legacy Dental Professionals. Our experienced team takes great delight in seeing families smile together and enjoy their dental visits. Dr. Fredal has been practicing children’s dentistry for many years, so he understands how to keep your child engaged and smiling. During each treatment, he gets to their level and explains what is going to happen, both to the child and to mom and dad.

One of our most popular dental services for kids is sealants. Sealants are used to assist children (and adults) with daily brushing. Your teeth have small grooves, which can trap food debris and lead to decay. It is very difficult to remove this debris with everyday brushing (especially for our younger patients). Therefore, Dr. Fredal applies a special gel to the surface of the tooth. This gel hardens and fills in the grooves, making it easier for your child to brush and remove all debris.
